What happens to the recycled material? After we recycle the waste into raw material, it's sold to manufacturing companies who produce the end product and complete the recycling journey.
How does TerraCycle make money?
TerraCycle sells the pellets to manufacturers such as injection molders or extruders to create products such as plastic lumber, containers and Dunnage (large containers used for carrying objects). Who pays for TerraCycle shipping?
In public recycling, your taxes pay for curbside pickup, transportation to the plant, sorting, and recycling. With National Recycling Programs, the sponsoring brands and retailers pay for these expenses. With Zero Waste Box, you have the power to take matters into your own hands and recycle everything.
Plastic bottles, like shampoos, conditioners and shower gels, are accepted by most recycling programmes. However, make sure that you have emptied and cleaned them out first. You can also leave the lids on as these can be recycled, unless it's a trigger head or a pump. These will need to go in your normal bin.18-Mar-2022

Unopened, unused and out-of-date medicines should be returned to pharmacies for disposal. The cardboard box that houses the blister packs can be recycled, as can any paper inserts.
Can electric toothbrush heads be recycled?
Made of various plastics and nylon, the brush heads cannot normally be recycled. They have to go into landfill waste. However, there are specialist companies that are now able to begin recycling and reusing the plastics that come from such products, particularly as the awareness of plastic pollution is increasing.22-Apr-2022

Where do I put TerraCycle?
As part of the free recycling programmes, members of the public can set up a public drop-off location (a recycling bin in an accessible place) in their community, in order to collect even more waste! The public can use interactive maps to find these locations and drop off their specific TerraCycle® waste.
Question: Can I recycle red or blue solo cups? Answer: Solo cups are made out of number six plastic called polystyrene, the same type of plastic that toys, and Styrofoam are made out of. In Western Massachusetts, our local recycling facility does not accept this type of plastic.11-Sept-2019
Why are plastic cups not recyclable?
Most recycling facilities don't accept cups or clamshell containers because they flatten easily when crushed and machines can't correctly sort them out (they often end up with paper). They also melt at a different temperature than other plastics which creates an ash that can ruin an entire batch of good plastic.
Candy Wrappers Aren't Recyclable Mostly because they are too small. The thin plastic pieces are nearly impossible to sort, so they get stuck to other recyclables and become contaminants. If your wrappers feel like plastic or are shiny inside, make sure they go in the garbage.
What does TerraCycle do with blister packs?
Medicine blister packets are a mix of materials that are difficult to recycle and not yet recycled by council systems. The TerraCycle scheme allows the packets to be collected and separated by polymer type before being extruded into plastic pellets to make new recycled products.08-Jul-2021

What does TerraCycle do with crisp packets?
Crisp packets can be recycled via Terracycle's Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme, with public drop-off points within four miles of 80% of households in the UK. Any brand of crisp packet can be recycled, but popcorn bags, crisp tubes, pretzel bags or meat snack bags can't. Find your local drop-off here.
