Australia Post recommends a separate aperture, box or tube to accommodate newspapers and non-mail articles. Australia Post delivers only into mail boxes in an approved location. Mail boxes must allow unhindered access to the delivery aperture.

An Express Post letter incorrectly posted in a red street posting box on a Sunday would probably not be delivered the following day - it would be subject to delay due to its being automatically diverted to the Express Post processing stream which is not geared for weekend postings.
