Where does USPS Informed Delivery mail get scanned?
Once sent, a direct mail piece is scanned by the Post Office™ facility and entered into a tracking system. Senders can then track pieces using the Informed Visibility tool, which shows when a mail piece has entered different stages in the delivery cycle.
USPS Informed Delivery doesn't show customers all of their mail. Some letters arrive without ever showing up as a preview. The mail users do get previews of will only show them the outside of the envelope. This helps you know what to expect to see in your mailbox.
What time does USPS scan mail for Informed Delivery?
Once daily, typically before 9:00AM local time, Monday through Saturday. Notifications are not sent on days when there is no mail to be delivered, on Sundays, or federal holidays.
If the piece is not received, we recommend that you contact the sender to request re-delivery of the mailpiece if warranted. Persistent delivery issues should be reported to your local Post Office.
