We present all incoming international parcels to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) for customs review. The CBSA visually inspects each parcel or piece of mail. Package contents that are not on the prohibited items list and not subject to duties or taxes are released for delivery.

Why is my package being held in customs Canada?
'Held at Customs' means the package you are sending to the destination country is held by the officials of the importer country's customs office. These government bodies hold the packages until they ensure that only permissible items cross their border and the taxes (Duties & Excise) are paid for the import.

How much can you send to Canada without paying duty?
For eligible gifts imported into Canada valued less than CAD$60 or less per shipment can be imported duty/ tax free. Shipments of gifts over CAD$60 is subject to duties and taxes on the amount over $60 (for example, a qualifying gift of $200 would be subject to duty/ taxes based on a value of $200-$60 or $140).

You can claim goods worth up CAN$800 without paying any duty and taxes. You must have the goods with you when you enter Canada. Although you can include some tobacco products and alcohol, a partial exemption may apply to cigarettes, tobacco products and manufactured tobacco.06-Oct-2021
