What does TerraCycle do with the recycled products?
What happens to the recycled material? After we recycle the waste into raw material, it's sold to manufacturing companies who produce the end product and complete the recycling journey.
TerraCycle works with strategic partners to process individual waste streams (by material composition) into a new format. Once a full truck load of material is aggregated it is baled and bulked ready to be transported to various processing partners who wash, shred, separate the materials accordingly.10-May-2018

Why are plastic cups not recyclable?
Most recycling facilities don't accept cups or clamshell containers because they flatten easily when crushed and machines can't correctly sort them out (they often end up with paper). They also melt at a different temperature than other plastics which creates an ash that can ruin an entire batch of good plastic.

Who created TerraCycle?
As a freshman at Princeton University, Tom Szaky started TerraCycle to help eliminate the idea of waste by making worm poop plant food from leftover cafeteria waste. Our first product was not only made from waste (feeding organic waste to worms) but also packaged in waste (used soda bottles).
The recent lawsuit and greenwashing claims have harmed TerraCycle's reputation, but the company has achieved a lot.
