What does signature on delivery do?
A signature and name will be captured when your customer is at home. If they are not at home, the parcel will only be left in a safe place if your customer has requested this during the delivery process (through MyPost or through an invitation in an email tracking notification).
Delivery attempts If a shipment requires, either an indirect, direct or adult signature, and a delivery attempt is made, but no one is there to sign for the package, the driver will leave a door tag at the recipient's door. If no signature is required, the shipment will be left at the recipient's door.

What kind of packages need to be signed for?
Signing for Mail Some pieces of mail require a signature from the recipient at the time of delivery. This includes items sent with Priority Mail Express (if requested), Certified Mail, Collect on Delivery, Insured Mail (over $500), Registered Mail, Return Receipt, Signature Confirmation, and Adult Signature.

What happens if a package needs a signature and no one is home UPS?
You could either have your package left at a UPS location, such as The UPS Store or a UPS Access Point® location, or change your instructions. Keep in mind that depending on final destination, transportation fees may apply.
Depending on your shipping method, and the carrier delivering your parcel, your order will either be left in a safe and secure place at your delivery address, or a notification card will be left with details on how to retrieve your parcel.
Does Australia Post leave parcel at door?
Unless delivered directly into a letterbox, the driver or postie will also leave a card under the front door to advise where the parcel is located. If there is no safe place to leave the parcel, a notification card will be left at the delivery address advising that the parcel can be collected from a nearby Post Office.
Runners have to take a photo as Proof of Delivery (POD) if the recipient isn't present and the parcel hasn't been claimed by anyone else. These photos, if instructed to take them, must be good enough for Go People.
Is signed for delivery safe?
Recorded delivery, or signed for delivery as it's often called, is where the courier will collect a signature from the recipient as proof of delivery. This means you can be safe in the knowledge that your parcel has reached its intended destination without any issues and has arrived in good condition.

What's the safest way to post a parcel?
Package all money, vouchers or jewellery you're sending securely. Make sure it isn't visible from the outside and don't indicate what's inside anywhere on the packaging. Don't send coins in envelopes. Automated sorting machines could damage the envelopes and cause delivery to be delayed or the contents to be lost.
Registered Mail is the most secure way to send a package through the USPS. As part of the security conditions for this mail class, Registered Mail must be sent with proof of mailing which requires a trip to the Post Office (you cannot deposit your package in a collection box).
